Level 5 - WSQ - Specialist Diploma in Community and Social Services (Senior Services)

Objectives

This Course is designed for people already working or wishing to enter a Senior Services organisation in the roles of Administrator, Financial Administrator, Human Resources Manager and Fundraising Managers.

Outline

The WSQ Specialist Diploma in Community and Social Services (Senior Services) consists of 18 units of competency comprising 6 core units and 12 elective units.
Selected elective units are available. Individual competencies may be undertaken to gain further knowledge and/ or skills.

Competency Units (Core)

  • Integrate specialist common processes in Senior Services
  • Develop legal and ethical behaviour throughout the organisation
  • Analyse and evaluate Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) risk and implement risk control procedures
  • Develop services and programmes based on best practice advances in the sector
  • Facilitate change management
  • Provide leadership across the organisation
Competency Units (Electives)

  • Plan and develop strategic organisational direction
  • Develop and implement business development proposals
  • Create a culture of quality within an organisation
  • Plan and allocate resources
  • Develop and implement community development strategies
  • Manage volunteer programmes to build organisational capacity
  • Promote the cause served by the organisation through publicity, public education and Community participation exercises
  • Manage client relationships in the Community and Social Services Sector
  • Implement action research models for Community and Social Services and publish findings
  • Manage and report on the organisation’s finances, accounts and resources
  • Implement fundraising programmes
  • Review and develop organisational policies and procedures
Prerequisites / Entry Requirements

WSQ ESS Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Level 7 is recommended.
Above 18yrs old

Duration

The duration of each unit of competency will take 2.5 days to complete the theory component. Most of the competencies will also require a practicum component.
