Level 5 - WSQ - Specialist Diploma in Community and Social Services (Protection and Rehabilitation)

Objectives

This Course is designed for people already working or wishing to enter a Protection and Rehabilitation organisation in the roles of Senior Manager, Assistant Director and Assistant Manager.

Outline

The WSQ Specialist Diploma in Community and Social Services (Protection and Rehabilitation) consists of 18 units of competency comprising 6 core units and 12 elective units.
Selected elective units are available. Individual competencies may be undertaken to gain further knowledge and/ or skills.

Competency Units (Core)

  • Integrate specialist common processes in Protection and Rehabilitation
  • Implement fundraising programmes
  • Develop legal and ethical behaviour throughout the organisation
  • Analyse and evaluate Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) risk and implement risk control procedures
  • Facilitate change management
  • Provide leadership across the organisation
Competency Units (Electives)

  • Manage and work effectively with groups
  • Prepare documents and make presentation in court
  • Establish discharge plans for children and young people
  • Manage client relationships in the Community and Social Services Sector
  • Provide advocacy and representation
  • Implement action research models for Community and Social Services and publish findings
  • Manage and report on the organisation’s finances, accounts and resources
  • Review and develop organisational policies and procedures
  • Plan and develop strategic organisational direction
  • Create a culture of quality within an organisation
  • Develop services and programmes based on best practice advances in the sector
  • Manage volunteer programmes to build organisational capacity
Prerequisites / Entry Requirements

WSQ ESS Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Level 7 is recommended.
Above 18yrs old

Duration

The duration of each unit of competency will take 2.5 days to complete the theory component. Most of the competencies will also require a practicum component.
