Level 5 - WSQ - Specialist Diploma in Community and Social Services (Disability Services)
Objectives

This Course is designed for people already working or wishing to enter a disability organisation in management roles such as Head of Centre, Head of Programmes and Assistant Director.

 Outline

The WSQ Specialist Diploma in Community and Social Services (Disability Services) consists of 18 units of competency comprising 6 core units and 12 elective units.
Selected elective units are available. Individual competencies may be undertaken to gain further knowledge and/ or skills.

 Competency Units (Core)

  • Develop legal and ethical behaviour throughout the organisation
  • Analyse and evaluate Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) risk and implement risk control procedures
  • Develop and implement business development proposals
  • Develop services and programmes based on best practice advances in the sector
  • Facilitate change management
  • Provide leadership across the organisation
Competency Units (Electives)

  • Integrate specialist common processes in Disability Services
  • Manage client relationships in the Community and Social Services sector
  • Promote the cause served by the organisation through publicity, public education and community participation exercises
  • Implement action research models for Community and Social Services and publish findings
  • Manage and report on the organisation’s finances, accounts and resources
  • Implement fundraising programmes
  • Review and develop organisational policies and procedures
  • Plan and develop strategic organisational direction
  • Plan and allocate resources
  • Manage volunteer programmes to build organisational capacity
  • Create a culture of quality within an organisation
  • Manage internal and external workplace relationships
Prerequisites / Entry Requirements

WSQ ESS Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Level 7 is recommended
Above 18yrs old

 Duration

The duration of each unit of competency will take 2.5 days to complete the theory component. Most of the competencies will also require a practicum component.

5 Competency Units x $189.85 = $949.25 (inclusive of GST)
WSQ Graduate Diploma in Community and Social Services under the TRG mode:
10 Competency Units x $189.85 = $1,898.50 (inclusive of GST)
